Music Video Codes
Music Video Code's a free service providing HTML codes for music videos to be placed onto blogs, websites and profiles of community member. In January 2006, the average music video codes traffic on major websites averaged 2 million visitors per month. The traffic on Media Merix website was more than other popular sites like Napster, MTV, Warner, Sony and Universal. On 19th November 2004 a very famous website by the name of musicvideocodes.com was bought over by Mr Jay Gould. The website is now one of the most popular sites on the internet today. In December 2005 Jay Gould decided to sell off the site to New York based company by the name of Bolt Inc. Myspace.com was later bought over by News Corp for nearly $600 million. The members were largely dependent on the ability of the members to customize their profiles using HTML and CSS codes. Music video code is the most common HTML tool amongst members of Myspace. Myspace is made on personalization and personality as one can customize buttons and also copy the music videos and then paste the music videos into their profile. January 2006 saw the launch of Myspace's video uploading services for hosting
and serving member videos while also attaching an HTML embedded tag for every single video that is uploaded so that members can place their own music or videos in their profiles or link them onto other sites. However there are many doubts on the legality of music video codes since the website does not accept and keep any material and is only acting as a means of providing links for people to view the music and videos from original content owner or keeper's website by providing links to that website. As of now there are thousands of high school seniors on Myspace who are putting up their favorite music videos which clearly shows the popularity of music video codes and how much the teens value them. However the music videos are copyrighted material and are not hosted by Myspace or music video sites but by the labels or other sites. However if the copyright holders do not want their copyrighted material to be deep linked on the websites then they can prevent the content from being deep linked from their end which raises a question whether they really want their material deep linked as a music video code. Music video codes have become very popular in 2005 as a large number of websites on music video codes have emerged lately. The market share of musicvideocodes.com has lessened as the service can be easily copied.
